My Favorite Shoes : Spring Edition

I think if you were to ask Mr. Foy what’s the one thing he would change about me, it would be my addiction to shoes. Ever since I can remember shoes have been my go to; they always fit, you can style them so many ways, and they are the final touch needed for every outfit. So, with a new season around the corner, I needed to stock up on some new Spring shoes! Here are my favorite Spring shoes!

sneakers.jpg

First up is probably my favorite shoe during my pregnancy, the sneaker! I have always been a fan of unique textures, patterns, or looks of a standard sneaker and the suede trend that I’m seeing everywhere now is the perfect unique sneaker twist. These mauve slide on suede sneakers are definitely my favorite, not only are they mauve (which we all know I love), but they have a suede finish and cute out pattern to keep your feet cooled off in warmer temperatures. My favorite thing about slide on sneakers is their versatility, you can easily pair it with some shorts and a graphic t or wear a fun jersey dress with them, either way you will be stylish and comfortable.

loafer.jpg

Next up, loafers. I know that a lot of people feel that loafers make their feet look long or not as feminine, but I beg to differ. Since I’m so tall, I have proportional feet and I love a good structured loafer. You can pair these for an office look with a blazer, a casual look with some jeans, or even a date night with some black leggings, a fun top, and these side cut out flats, the possibilities are endless. The best part is that these criss cross detailed loafers have a comfort sole, which means you can wear these all day and not worry about having sore feet at night. Be adventurous, step out of your comfort zone and try one of our amazing loafers, I promise you won’t regret it and they may become one of your favorite shoes too!

animal print.jpg

My next favorite shoe really is more of a pattern: cheetah or animal print! In my mind, you can never go wrong by being bold in your shoe choices and this leopard bootie is the perfect Spring transitional piece! These are timeless and the perfect pairing with any outfit, whether it’s all black and you want a pop of something or a simple jean and t-shirt combo, these shoes are the perfect finishing touch! In the past, people have thought that warmer temperatures mean the end of bootie season, but this years shoe trend continues to incorporate booties well into the Spring and Summer months and I couldn’t be more excited to see what else comes out!

sandals.jpg

Last and certainly not least, sandals! Need I say more?! Sandals are just the perfect shoe for any outfit and I love being able to wear them with literally everything. Whether it’s a slide on sandal, a lace up sandal, or a sandal with a zipper back, I can’t get enough of them!

What are your favorite Spring shoes?!

Crystal

Fashion Forward : Spring Accessories!

I don’t know about you, but these cold temperatures can go. I’m so ready for the warmer Spring, and especially for all of the amazing accessories trends that are already beginning to make their appearance! Here are the trends that I am so excited for and that I’m already stocking up on in anticipation for Spring!

suede.jpg

First up, suede! I have always been a huge fan of suede. It can dress up a casual outfit, but also pull together lots of different pieces. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been seeing some amazing suede bags, especially after going to market in Vegas, but what I’m even more excited about are suede hats, bracelets, and most of all shoes! When I saw these braided sole and black faux suede top sneakers, I knew I had to stock them in the boutique, not only because I needed a pair, but because everyone does! These are incredibly versatile, wear them with some shorts for a casual look, or pair it with a fun jersey dress when going to root on your kids in their outdoor sports! When I’m going to watch my son Hudson play t ball this Spring, I am going to throw one of our suede baseball hats on with my sneakers and denim shorts and I’ll be good to go!

crossbody.jpg

My next favorite trend is the crossbody bag. These bags are perfect for throwing your keys, phone, and wallet in to get out the door in a hurry. I really love to carry mine when I need to be outdoors with the kids, whether it’s a festival, the park, or a school trip, I can easily carry the things I need and still have the ability to tote around a kid or two. This little crossbody is perfect for when I need to run and pick up the boys from school and run a quick errands afterwards and the vintage wash on it is perfection! This bag brings my two favorites together, a crossbody in a suede and the color is the icing on top since it matches everything! If you are more of a purist and need a black go to bag, then this one is for you! The magnetic closure makes this purse super durable, which is an added perk.

jewelry post.jpg

My last favorites are all of the amazing jewelry pieces that are coming, I especially love the dainty pieces and the continuing seed bead trend! A beautiful dainty necklace like this mountain scape or star can really pull a look together with it’s subtle simplicity. It can take a v neck dress to the next level, or even accentuate a mock neck dress with the perfect elegant flair. These hammered teardrop earrings with bead detail would look amazing with any look! I love to throw these on when I have my hair up so you can really see the intricate detail! And you can never go wrong with our Millie Bracelet, it’s the perfect addition to any outfit whether it’s a kimono over denim, a dress, or a t shirt and shorts, put on a couple of these bracelets and you are ready to go!

This is just the beginning of my favorite trends! What are you most excited for?!

XO,

Crystal

New Line Coming to Jo&Grey!

Alright, the cat’s out of the bag, we have a new line coming to Jo&Grey and I couldn’t be more excited!

CD other.jpg

After keeping this under wraps and working so hard to ensure that we could bring our customers an amazing new line, we officially have it! The brand is called Crescent Drive and words can’t even describe the pieces, but they are amazing! The best part, is that we are only one of ten total boutiques that will carry this brand, talk about exclusivity and uniqueness!

CD tops.jpg

I’ve worked with this talented designer before and I knew I had to carry this line if not for the quality alone, but also the most amazing part is that no size is left out! I’ve listened to you all when you tell me about size envy for a piece, and this brand eliminates all of that envy! These pieces will now come in every size from XS to 5! What is 5 you might ask? Well this brand doesn’t believe in using the term “plus size”, so they call theirs extended sizing to ensure comfort and a flawless fit! I love everything this brand stands for because it has high end pieces that will fit every woman, a standard that Jo&Grey ensure we maintain.

CD bottoms.jpg

Are you as excited as I am?! Well then, don’t miss the launch of this brand on _______! I can’t wait to show you the pieces and have you fall in love like I have! This is just one of many amazing things happening at Jo&Grey, follow us on this fun journey!

XO,

Crystal

1 Jean 4 Ways!

Are you like me and find yourself loving one of your pairs of jeans, but feel that you are constantly wearing the same outfit with them? Well I decided to challenge myself and show you how to style my favorite black jeans 4 ways, to fit any and every situation you may find yourself in!

Denim 4 ways.jpg

First up is the perfect outfit for my current day to day, which is mom life. Some days, especially during this pregnancy, I have no energy to pick out an outfit, but this hoodie top is the perfect piece to pair up with my black jeans. Whether I’m running from school drop off, to the office, and then home to play with my boys, this is the perfect outfit for any curve balls thrown my way. The hood has a super fun floral on it, that pulls the entire look together, and adds some feminine flair. If you’re having a bad hair day, or just need that extra five minutes of rest, throw on a baseball hat and you’re all set!

Next up, we all need a great work appropriate outfit and who ever said black denim didn’t fit the bill? I love a nice flowy blouse that ties either on the front or side for some structure. If your office needs a little more of a neutral palette, then this mocha colored blouse checks that box. The high neckline makes this perfectly work appropriate and lends itself to wearing an amazing statement necklace to pull the look together flawlessly! Throw some black pumps on and you are ready to conquer the work day!

Isn’t Friday everyone’s favorite work day? Not only do you get to dress a little more casually, but you can have fun plans like drinks with the girls after work! This black bodysuit under a stunning burgundy moto jacket is the perfect thing to wear for a post work girl’s night! The v neck on the bodysuit isn’t too deep, and the jacket covers the arms, making this perfect for work. Once night time hits, you can take off the jacket and enjoy the night with your squad! I love to pair this outfit with a fun black bag to really make a spectacular outfit!

Last, and certainly not least, I love when Mr. Foy and I can sneak in a fun brunch or even a Trader Joe’s run, just the two of us. On those kinds of days, I want to dress up a little bit with my black jeans, yet still be able to be comfortable to haul around a cart full of goodies! This mauve frayed sweater is an absolute staple for me! It is so cozy, but the v neck dresses it up some. On cold days I like to pair it with a fun scarf and booties, but no matter the temperature, I always have my travel mug with me because coffee (or tea during this pregnancy) is life!

I loved pulling together 4 completely different looks using one staple piece like good black denim. I’ve always though black jeans, a black dress, some booties, and solid tops are such great transitional pieces that you can wear in so many ways! What do you want to see done next in 4 ways?

XO,

Crystal

Trend Alert : Spring!

Is this cold weather and snow making you want Spring to get here ASAP? Well, although I love the snow, I want Spring here, especially the Spring fashion! Whether it’s continuing the cold shoulder trend or finding the perfect pair of sandals, I’m ready for all of it! After being in Vegas I can’t even describe my excitement over all of the colors and prints that are heading our way.

Here are my favorite trends that I am so excited to come!

romper use.jpg

First up is one of my absolute favorites, rompers! I love the versatility that a romper has. If it’s super hot out, you can simply pair a black romper with some funky sandals and look effortlessly put together. If you need a transitional outfit for a cooler Spring night, pair a romper with one of our chunky knit cardigans and you can feel cozy for an evening picnic under the stars. What I love most about these rompers is that even though I’m tall and have a growing baby bump, they fit amazingly and are so flattering no matter what body shape you are! I also love having the option of getting one in a staple solid or venturing out for a fun print, rompers literally have endless possibilities.

dresses.jpg

Next up are dresses! I love a good maxi dress that you can throw on and feel comfortable in, pair it with a gorgeous necklace and earrings and you are all set. These bright colors that I am seeing popping up everywhere are stunning and can be paired with any shoe! I’m obsessed with an off the shoulder maxi, it being in a floral print is just an added bonus! If you aren’t a fan of maxi dresses (even though I can’t imagine anyone not loving them), then a stripe midi dress with either a cap sleeve or a mock high neckline are definite staples! For a transitional Spring look, I love to wear a simple striped dress with some camel booties, it’s the perfect combination!

Kimonos.jpg

Last, but certainly not least are kimonos! I literally cannot get enough kimonos in my closet. Whether you are a floral, aztec, or solid lover, we have the perfect kimono for you! If you are feeling even more adventurous with your fashion, then a long chiffon kimono is perfect for you, I love the way this one has gorgeous button waist that just cinches you in! Pair any of them with a fun criss cross cami and some shorts and you are set! With this growing baby bump, I love how a kimono is always flattering, plus shorts allow me to get down and play with the boys and the dogs outside #momlife!

I can’t wait to see what other fashion trends start to come out for Spring, what are you most excited for?

XO,

Crystal

Best Transitional Pieces

Do these cold temperatures have you counting down the days until Spring? Although I love the snow, I’m also a warm weather girl, but right now my closet is all winter wear. I decided to go through and find pieces in my closet that I’m going to transition into the Spring and show you how to style them for either cold or warm weather!

Graphic t collage.jpg

First up has to be my favorite, the graphic tee. I’ve always been a fan of graphic tees, but our newest batch is truly out of this world! In the cooler temperatures, I love to wear some great Judy Blue jeans, a graphic tee, and a big chunky open front sweater or cardigan, it gives me the perfect cozy feel on a cold winter day. Whenever the temperature decides to creep up (which is hopefully soon), I can’t wait to pair these graphic tees with a pair of shorts and my go to shoes, some Chuck Taylors. If you want to snatch up one of these graphic tees, make sure you join our Facebook group so you can see our newest prints!

Duster Transition.jpg

You can never go wrong with a good duster! These pieces are timeless and are great year round. I’m currently rocking these with a long sleeve criss cross top and some amazing black leggings, complete perfection! In the Spring, this will pair perfectly with some black high waisted jean shorts and a ribbed tank, just add some fun sandals and you are all set!

Cardigan Cami Transition.jpg

If the picture doesn’t already have you sold on this look, then I don’t know what will! I have every piece of this outfit because each one can be worn in so many different ways. This is a great winter look because of the amazing suede cardigan, paired with denim, and the criss cross cami, but the Brady bag really pulls it all together! Add a pair of booties, knee boots, or flats and this look is ready for you tackle the day! If you simply swap out one piece of this outfit, like the jeans with shorts, you have an amazing Spring look, ready to go! Take it one step further and swap out the bag for one of our small crossbody bags and you are ready for any outdoor Spring activities in your future!

Workout Transition.jpg

During this pregnancy, I’m really trying to stay fit, and these workout pieces are definitely helping me! Whether it’s hot or cold outside, you workout indoors or outdoors, you will always need to cute, versatile, and comfortable workout staples. These highwaist work out leggings with a mesh panel are incredibly comfortable, but also make me feel good since they are so cute! We also have a plus size version available! It’s cold out, I throw on a hoodie sweatshirt and I’m ready for a run! On a cooler, and when I’m not pregnant, day, throw on our triple threat racerback for either an indoor workout or outdoor run!

Accessories transition.jpg

Last, and certainly not least, everyone needs some great accessories, regardless of the weather. Some of my favorite timeless and year round favorites are our pouches they are so roomy and I love the colors, especially like the vivid pinks in the Desert Rose! We are seeing more and more cuffs these days, and with two colorways for our beaded bangle cuff you are destined to make any outfit work with them! I don’t know about you, but my boys just started T ball and I need to have a bag to carry around to practice and games so I can have any and every thing I need readily accessible. I love a good quality backpack that I can pack full of snacks and take on the go! If you know anything about me, you know I can’t get enough of the druzy trend so it’s fitting that I include a set of druzy bracelets! What I love most is that this set comes in either gray or white, so whether it’s winter white or a Spring white accent piece, these are perfection!

Is your weather warming up at all yet? What are your go to pieces that you transition from Winter to Spring?

XO,

Crystal

Trend Alert : Bell Sleeve

My favorite part about opening Jo & Grey has definitely been shopping for inventory to stock. When I first started this venture I saw just a few pieces that had the bell sleeve look, but over the past month, the trend has sky rocketed! Whether you call it bell sleeve, trumpet sleeve, or bubble sleeve, I love them all! Here are some of my favorite pieces and how I would style them!

Teal bubble.jpg

First up, is this fabulous teal blouse. I love that this top has a more subtle bell sleeve for those of you that may need easing into the trend. The cherry on top of this blouse sundae has to be the embroidered detail around the neckline and shoulders, which adds such drama to top. I also love tops that have the tie around the neck because it adds the versatility of being able to wear it open or tied up. Pair this top with a fun dangle earring and it is perfection!

black bubble dress.jpg

If dresses are more to your liking, then this stunning black a line dress is for you! Not only does this check the box for a token LBD (little black dress), but the cut is so flattering and hits right above the knee. If that alone isn’t enough, then let’s talk about the amazing bell sleeve that just cascades down your arm starting at elbow length. This bell sleeve is undeniably a statement and I love to pair this with an amazing necklace and heels, it’s the perfect outfit for any occasion.

Floral bubble.jpg

I have such size envy for our Knit top with Floral Woven Sleeves. Not only does it have a great bell sleeve, but it also features a dropped dolman sleeve that seamlessly goes into the floral woven material. The simplicity of the super soft nude body pairs perfectly with the purples and pinks that are in the woven sleeve. This top is currently an app only product so make sure you download our app in the Apple App Store or Android Marketplace and snatch one up before it sells out!

Caramel bubble.jpg

Last, but certainly not least, if you just need something that you can throw on top of leggings or jeans, then our Bubble Sleeve Caramel Sweater was made for you! Not only is this sweater one of my favorite staple colors, other than black of course, but it’s got some fun cutouts across the top. I love to pair this top with either our reversible v neck cami or a ribbed racerback so the color peak through the cutouts. Wear this piece with some denim and booties, or transition this piece into spring by pairing it with some shorts and sandals and you are ready for any spring fling! This sweater is currently an app only product so make sure you download our app!

Have you been loving the bell sleeve trend as much as I have? I’m so excited to see what other trends will continue, and begin to emerge, as we get close to spring!

Crystal

Valentine's Day Outfit Inspiration

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and whether you are celebrating with your significant other or having a Galentine’s day with your girlfriends, you need the perfect outfit! Enter stage left, Jo & Grey, here to save you the headache of finding an outfit by giving you instant inspiration (and fast shipping in case you need it ASAP)!

V day lace dress.jpg

This look is stunning! I have always been a sucker for anything lace, but lace in this shade of red is perfection. I also love the contrast of having the crochet detail on the sleeve, which adds another layer of sophistication to this dress. Since this dress is a statement maker by itself, I’ve paired it with some simpler pieces that you can continue to wear as closet staples! This Broadway shoulder bag adds a bit of an edge with the grommet work and pairing our black fringe booties will make you look effortlessly put together.

Vday plus size.jpg

If lace isn’t your cup of tee, but you still want an amazing dress to wear, then this look is for you! This is one of the softest and most flattering dresses I have ever seen. The cap sleeve gives just the perfect amount of coverage and the cinched waist hits at just the right spot that you can hide a food baby from all of the delicious food you are going to have. Pair this with a cozy sweater to keep you warm, a druzy necklace for some sparkle, and a set of chunky bracelets and you are drop dead gorgeous and ready to go!

Vday ruffle top.jpg

If you prefer to wear jeans, then this look was made for you! Pairing amazing dark denim with this bright red ruffle dart top literally makes the shirt pop! I love to pair this look with some camel colored peep toe booties and gold accessories to accentuate the look even more. Want to add a little sass to your outfit? Then why not add in some animal print! This look would be great paired with out leopard pendant necklace!

Vday plus size leggings.jpg

Are jeans not your thing? These days they aren’t mine either and I’ve been living in leggings! For all of my legging wearing ladies out there, this is your outfit! This soft pink top is perfect for cozier Valentine’s day plans. It has a perfect round neck that is great for long tassel necklaces or a shorter initial necklace. These black leggings stretch for days and are not sheer, which is a must in my book. Last, but not least, don’t forget a great beanie to brave the cold weather!

What are your Valentine’s plans and what are you wearing? I, for one, love holidays that give me an excuse to dress up or buy new outfits! To see what I’m wearing for Valentine’s Day with Mr. Foy, make sure you follow us on Instagram!

Celebrity OOTD Inspiration

I, like many others, love a good OOTD photo, but have you ever caught yourself drooling over a celebrity OOTD? As I shop for amazing inventory to add to our boutique, I have been stalking Instagram and here are a few of my favorite looks thus far. Make sure you follow us on Instagram at ShopJoandGrey and tag us in your celebrity inspired OOTD that you want us to recreate!

Cavalari collage.jpg

Kristin Cavallari is definitely an OOTD inspiration staple in my book. I love how her looks can be sophisticated, without being too over the top. I also love that she’s a mom, so her OOTD are usually versatile and incorporate some amazing staple pieces. When I saw this look I knew I had to include it since we just stocked an identical sweater in two colors. This sweater is currently an app exclusive piece so make sure you download the Jo and Grey app in the App store or Android Marketplace and search “frayed” to get it in this gorgeous mauve or an everyday black. Our frayed version isn’t as deep a v neck, which makes it much more wearable for the every day woman. Grab any of our bralettes, like this nude lace one, and pair your look with some fun dangle earrings, a multi strand necklace, and and some denim and you are good to go!

Vargas collage.jpg

I’ve been following a lot more vloggers in my quest to find the perfect pieces to stock the boutique and Sarah Rae Vargas has definitely been an inspiration for our plus size collection. The subtlety of pairing denim with a neutral tank and cover up, but then accessorizing her outfits with stunning jewelry and a purse, like our Broadway purse that’s available on our app, has made her OOTD definite inspiration. This outfit paired with some peep toe booties makes for the perfect staple outfit. The thing I love most about this, is that one piece can be swapped out and a whole new look is given, change out the jeans to a black pant and now you have a work appropriate outfit.

Markle collage.jpg

Now I can’t talk about OOTD inspiration without mentioning the Duchess herself. Meghan Markle is the epitome of class and sophistication, but she also has fun with her looks. Although we are all still in the frigid January weather, when I saw the white denim in this photo I knew I had to do a twist on this summer look. The black and white plaid pops when paired with the white denim and changing the top from a tank to button up makes it much more winter friendly. I love to wear a criss cross cami or bralette under my button ups to be able to undo a button or two and add a little more structure and detail to my outfit. Although in the inspiration picture she is holding a grocery bag, an outfit is not complete without a purse so I paired this look with our Mountain View fringe bag to complete the look.

I personally can’t wait for the seasons to change to see what other OOTD inspiration I find! Let me know what Spring looks you are most excited for and who your OOTD celebrity inspirations are!

XO,

Crystal

When people ask me what my favorite closet staples are, I can’t help but to include cardigans. Cardigans are such a versatile piece, but a lot of people don’t know that you can style a cardigan in so many ways, take a look at my favorite ways below!

First, the tried and true jeans and cardigan combo can never fail. I love being able to have this combo as a go to option if I am in a rush, throw on some booties and a scarf and you look effortlessly put together! Whether I’m running errands or chasing after my boys, this outfit makes me feel ready to conquer my day!

I am a huge fan of cardigans with some kind of button or snap closure. I think it gives the outfit more structure and can look really sleek and sophisticated with some black pants or moto leggings. I also love to undo a top button or two and have a criss cross cami or bralette peaking through if I want a little more of an evening look to go out with friends. The best part is you can wear an outfit like this to work and be completely covered up, but then undo a button and go to a happy hour with friends, it’s a win win for sure!

Shop this cardigan, bralette, or moto pant!

The last way, I style my cardigans is with dresses and skirts. Although this takes a little more finesse, especially in the winter months, I still love this look. If you are worried about the cooler weather, throw on a pair of tights or some amazing knee high boots. I love the simplicity of a solid color dress with a chunky knit cardigan to enhance the already sleek look. If you want something more fun, wear a patterned dress with a solid open front cardigan that pulls out a color in the dress or matches the shoes you plan on wearing. You can never go wrong, especially if you are adding in a solid!

2019 Pantone Color of the Year

It’s officially here! The Pantone color of the year has been announced and I couldn’t be more excited!

Foys color.png

16-1546 Living Coral has me living and looking forward to all of the new inventory we are going to get in coral!

From the Pantone website, the reason Living Coral was chosen this year is:

"Vibrant, yet mellow PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment. In reaction to the onslaught of digital technology and social media increasingly embedding into daily life, we are seeking authentic and immersive experiences that enable connection and intimacy. Sociable and spirited, the engaging nature of PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity. Symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits, PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embodies our desire for playful expression."

Here at the Jo & Grey headquarters, we couldn’t agree more! We all love social media and the connectivity it gives us to not only friends and family, but also cultures and parts of the world we may never have the chance of seeing. With the positive, also comes negative, social media has also been used as a sometimes harsh reality check by showing us that not everything is great at all times. Many have thought that coral itself is an amazing habitat for various marine life while also “painting” the ocean with it’s bright colors. Having Living Coral chosen as the Pantone color of the year will hopefully continue to help social media become a fun and nurturing environment while continuing to paint positivity and joyfulness.

If you can’t wait like me, get a head start and buy one of our amazing coral dresses! Are you plus size? Well then you have to get our tie front coral dress! It’s perfect for any weather and the tie makes the size super adjustable and forgiving. We also have this stunning crochet tunic dress with gorgeous neckline detail and 3/4 sleeves!

PicMonkey Collage.jpg

Not only are we getting this amazing color in more clothing, but we are going to start seeing it increasingly used in accessories, cosmetics, and home decor. What are you most excited to see this gorgeous color used in?

Top Cold Weather Accessories

I don’t know about you, but here in New York the temperatures are dropping and I am finding myself bundling up more than ever. The problem is, how do you accessorize for such cold weather? Well, yet again, I’m here to save the day with my top 5 winter friendly accessories!

1.       Headbands

Headbands are literally my life saver in the brisk mornings! Not only are headbands super fashionable and come in tons of colors to match any outfit, but they can even keep your ears warm when taking the kids to the bus stop or school. Throwing on one of our knit headbands can add just the perfect cozy look to any outfit. Do you live in a little warmer climate? Well then try one of our thinner headbands, these not only are adorable, but every purchase made also gives a child fighting cancer a headband too. Snag one of these for you or a friend, but also feel great in knowing that your purchase is a contribution to a child going through a difficult time.

2.       Scarves

Scarves are such an obvious winter accessory, but if you are anything like me, you need some cute patterns, fringe, or colors to add that perfect pop to your outfit. Lately, I’ve been loving wearing jeans and a basic solid top, but have jazzed up my outfit be adding a bold colored scarf, like this red and black plaid scarf.  If I’m wearing an outfit that is already a little bold in color, adding this two tone fringe scarf adds the perfect balance of fashionable and warmth.

3.       Hats

With these cold morning temperatures, I find myself hitting snooze a few too many times, which means I have overslept and lost time that otherwise would be allocated for hair styling. To solve this problem, I rely on hats of every variety. I love a good beanie, especially like these ponytail beanies where I can just throw my hair up and walk out the door. My other go to is a simple baseball cap, I love this one because it’s acid wash and can go with everything!

4.       Statement Necklaces

When it comes to jewelry, I love the versatility that comes with long, chunky, or bold necklaces. I love the simplicity of a solid chunky sweater that is so easily dressed up with a gorgeous necklace like this beaded tassel necklace. If you prefer a simpler look, you can never go wrong with a v neck top and a dainty piece like these initial necklaces.

5.       Bags

My last favorite winter accessory is an amazing purse/bag. Being an on the go mom, I love having a bag that I can throw everything I need into it. A black and white purse matches every outfit, and this bag features long shoulder straps! I also love to be organized in my purse. Whenever one of my sons needs something, I need to be find it quickly to avoid a meltdown, so these fun pouches are a must especially with needing all of my winter essentials like gloves, chapstick, or lotion.

What are your winter accessory essentials? Let me know below what you are in the market for in winter accessories! Until next time, stay warm and accessorized!

Best Holiday Red Velvet Cake

If you are anything like me, Thanksgiving is in the rear view mirror and the countless holiday parties are filling up your calendar. If you are at the inevitable crossroads of figuring out what dish to bring to all of your holiday potlucks and parties, then look no further than my favorite red velvet cake! Not only is this cake delicious, moist, and easy to transport, but you can make amazing red velvet truffles out of the scraps, two desserts with only the work of one! Below is my go to recipe for all holiday functions, try it out and let me know how you like it!

Finished Cake.jpg

Cake

·         3 cups of cake flour – this is absolutely necessary, do not skimp and go for all purpose, my favorite brand is Swan’s Down

·         1 tablespoon of baking powder

·         2-3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder  - if you like a richer chocolate flavor use 3 tablespoons, I love Hershey’s cocoa, gives a great flavor!

·         ¼ teaspoon of salt

·         ½ cup of softened unsalted butter

·         2 cups of sugar

·         1 cup of vegetable oil

·         4 large eggs

·         1 tablespoon of vanilla extract – I never measure mine so this is ballpark

·         1 teaspoon of white vinegar

·         Red food coloring

·         1 cup of buttermilk

·         For glaze : ½ cup each of water and sugar

Icing

·         1/2 stick of butter

·         8 oz of cream cheese

·         4 cups of powdered sugar

·         1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

Truffles

·         ½ cup of heavy whipping cream

·         ½ cup of mini chocolate chips

Ingredients.jpg

Directions

1.       Preheat your oven to 350. Butter, flour, and line with parchment two round cake pans.

2.       In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder together and set aside.

3.       In a large bowl (or stand mixer) cream your butter until light and fluffy. Add the sugar and beat together until well combined. Add the oil, this may give your batter an odd texture, that’s ok! Add the eggs and vanilla extract.

4.       In a small bowl mix your vinegar and desired food coloring, I like to use gel for vibrancy, but liquid works as well. Add however much you want your cake color to be, keep in mind that your cake color will lighten when baking, I usually use 1/4 teaspoon of gel or 15-18 drops of liquid.

5.       Add your coloring mixture to your batter.

6.       Take your dry ingredients and add in thirds to your batter, alternating with the addition of your buttermilk. ALWAYS begin and end with the same i.e. if you start with dry, end with dry.

7.       Pour the batter into your prepared pans and bake for 30-40 minutes, this will vary on your oven.

8.       Once a toothpick inserted comes out clean, remove and cool the cakes.

9.       As your cakes cool, make your sugar glaze, this helps seal in moisture! In a small saucepan or pot, put ½ each of water and white sugar, heat until combined (do not overheat as this can burn)

10.   Unmold your cakes, remove the parchment, and level your cakes (make sure to keep these scraps!). Brush your glaze onto the top of each leveled cake and let cool.

11.   Make your icing. Cream your butter and sugar together, add the vanilla extract, add one cup of powdered sugar in at a time until desired consistency has been reached.

12.   Ice your cakes and decorate!

13.   Make truffles. Take leveled cake pieces and crumble into bowl, take remaining icing (usually about ½ cup) and add to crumbles. Combine until small balls can be made. Place small balls on parchment and freeze for one hour. Put heavy cream in microwave safe bowl and warm to an almost boil. Pour hot cream over chocolate chips, let rest for 30 seconds and then mix until smooth. Take your balls out of the freezer, roll in your chocolate mixture, place on parchment once coated, decorate, and let cool. Once all balls are coated, place in fridge to set. Remove once set and place in decorative container!

These two desserts are not only delicious, but incredibly easy to make. One variation that I find fun is to make this for a baby shower and make either pink or blue velvet cake. The only change needed for the recipe is the food coloring and to add shaved white chocolate instead of cocoa powder! What’s your go to holiday dessert? Do you want more of my favorite recipe ideas?!

Top 5 Fall Fashion Trends

The leaves are changing colors and the mornings have a pleasant crispness to them, which can only mean one thing, Fall is here! With every new season comes new and fun trends, and this Fall is no exception. From fringe to ruffles to denim here is my top 5 Fall trendy staples that you must add to your wardrobe!

1.       Elbow Patches

We all remember our dad’s or grandfather’s older sweaters with the suede elbow patches right? Well who would have known that we should have been saving them all this time? Fun chunky sweaters or tops with these signature suede elbow patches are all the rage in fashion right now. You can layer these pieces with a fun scarf and a pair of booties for the perfect fall look. This cardigan is definitely my favorite with the houndstooth inspired pattern and stunning purple interior you will get so many compliments with this versatile piece!

2.       Ruffles

Ruffles are literally everywhere this season, and with good cause. A well-made ruffle can turn any outfit into a sleek and sophisticated ensemble. Take for example this sophisticated black ruffle top, throw some good denim, a pair of boots, and a long dangly necklace and you are ready for any fun Fall activity heading your way. If you need a piece that is ready for your “on the go” lifestyle, our burgundy ruffle sweater is the perfect piece for you and it comes in sizes S to 3X!

3.       Cold Shoulder Tops

Even though it’s Fall and we are having cooler temperatures, there is always a need for a good cold shoulder top and this year’s fashion trends couldn’t agree more! We are seeing cold shoulders in everything from simple tops to off the shoulder sweaters, if your shoulder is out, it counts! I’m personally loving, and having size envy on, this gorgeous plus size top that combines not only cold shoulders, but a front knot and button up detail, this piece is the Fall trend trifecta!

4.       Fringe

Fringe is definitely my favorite of all Fall trends because we are seeing it in every single thing and you can layer your fringe pieces. Do you have some fringe booties at home and want a stunning top in Fall’s trendy camel color to compliment them? Well then this suede fringe jacket is the perfect piece, it is so flattering and camel literally looks great on all skin tones. If you prefer more of a covered look, check out all of our ponchos that feature fringe, any of these pieces will definitely keep you on trend, and warm, this Fall!

5.       Good Denim

With every good fashion trend, you need a staple piece that is versatile enough to pair with anything, this Fall, that piece is good denim. I know you’re probably thinking, what is “good denim”, aren’t jeans just jeans? I thought that too, until I recently left my previous tried and true jeans for these ultra stretchy and amazingly comfortable jeans. A good pair of denim will instantly leave you feeling smoothed and fashionable. A good jean will also wear well with any top you put with it and is versatile for any kind of shoe. A good jean will literally have you thinking “what have I been wearing before this?!” and have you never turning back.

This is just the start of some amazing trends and I can’t wait to see what it coming next! What trend are you most excited for? Until next time, stay fashionable!

A place to call home

For the last few years, Richie and I would drive by this quiet, undeveloped cul-de-sac, surrounded by woods and we would dream about one day purchasing one of the lots and building our dream home.

We envisioned the perfect house, with a pool in the back yard. A place where we could host holidays with our extended families and parties with our friends. We hoped this would be the place that we would raise our boys and create memories that would last a lifetime. However, during most of this time it was completely out of the realm of possibility for us. We had no where near the money that it would cost to make this dream a reality, well that is until we found Lularoe.

Our property, a gorgeous 2.5 acre lot at the end of a cel-de-sac surrounded by woods!

Our property, a gorgeous 2.5 acre lot at the end of a cel-de-sac surrounded by woods!

We knew that if we worked hard enough, we could make this dream a reality and that is exactly what we did! We made an offer at the end of March and closed in the beginning of June. It has been a life changing journey to be able to achieve this. We are so humbled by the support that we have received from all of our amazing customers, team members and friends along this journey for without each and every one of you, this would never be possible.

I know what you are thinking...enough with the details, show us the house!

Let me say this, I am picky, so very picky. Poor Mr. Foy. We built the house that we currently live in, 4 years ago and although we love it, it is much too small for our family and Lularoe business. Plus, in building this one, we are able to see all of the things we would have done differently. Like, black floors. Yes, we have GORGEOUS black hardwood floors but holy cow, I should have listened to my mom because they get SO dirty!

Anyways, in months of searching the beautiful craftsman style home above had the floor plan that best fit our needs and would allow us to have a separate Lularoe area! Well I wouldn't be me if my mind didn't change AGAIN. Our architect probably dreads every time he sees my name pop up on his phone or email. Because than I stumbled on the exterior below....

I love the uniqueness of this beautiful house and an almost Southern Charm. (This image is not ours)

Well are you shocked with our choice? I am in love with the uniqueness of the house above. It is also very different than almost all of the houses in our area which is what we were looking for.

So our architect took on the challenge of keeping our existing floor plan but modifying the front exterior to model the beautiful white modern, farmhouse above. Essentially, we have a hybrid of both houses and we couldn't be more excited to get this project started. We can't wait to take you on this wild ride with us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and support. We truly mean it when we say that none of this would be possible without all of you <3
